The best way to continue ensuring our schools are reaching for excellence in education is to set goals and then help them reach those goals. This does not mean that the state government should be dictating every tiny detail of district operation, but rather helping struggling districts achieve specific goals by applying strategies used by successful districts to their operations. Scott and Susie’s children have attended public school, home school and private school. Scott will do what he can to make sure that as many parents as possible in Florida will have choices as how to best educate their children.

There is nothing worse than to hear about a crime against a citizen of this state that could have been prevented if the offender had stayed locked up for the amount of time he/she was sentenced to. Criminals in Florida need to hear from Tallahassee a unified voice that if you come here and commit a crime you are going to jail and you will be there for however long a jury or judge mandates it. Scott will do everything possible while in the legislature to ensure that the safety of Florida’s citizens is a top priority. He’s said many times “public safety is the foundation upon which all of our other rights and freedoms depend”.

Florida needs to be a leader in the use of alternative energies. With our state growing by leaps and bounds every year, our demand for energy to power our homes and businesses will continue to rise. Scott believes that we have a responsibility to find ways to keep Florida’s energy supply stable. With the recent events in the world that leave energy supplies open to price spikes, Scott knows that now is the time to make investments into Florida’s energy needs. He believes the answer is creating tax incentives to companies that develop energy efficient products and technologies and expanding existing programs that offer grants to homebuilders and homeowners for using alternative energy supplies. Scott believes that energy is the lifeblood of our economy and that we must over the long term be moving towards renewable sources. In the meantime, we need to gain independence from foreign oil suppliers by pursuing domestic sources such as safely drilling off of our coast.
